Lo Nu Danza Po Helba (Wanted Acts of Helping = "Bulletin Board")
This space will be regularly used for reminding logli of what they can do to help The Institute. Some reminders will stay up fairly permanently. New postings will be at the head of the list and starred [marked with open circles].
-
Get your favorite bookstore to take 5 copies of L1 "on consignment". This means they won't have to pay for them unless or until they sell them. They will, however, be responsible for any damaged copies. They'd also have to sell L1 at $21.50 and pay us $12.90 (60%) for each copy sold. We'd send you the books to give to them if they agree to try us out this way.
-
Get your public or school library to order a copy of L1. Librarians are always interested in new projects, and they will be easier to persuade than you think. Show them a review (Rex's in this month's Liberty, Dave Cortesi's in the September 1982 Dr. Dobbs Journal) or the old SA article.
-
Write Letters-to-the-Editors of your favorite magazines telling your fellow readers about Loglan, that we have gone public again, that the language is now ready to be used, that we have lots of new learning tools.
-
Write popular articles about Loglan, or reviews of Loglan 1, and try to get them published in the domestic or foreign press. Write some in other languages than English if you can.
-
Write “Loglan Zero”, the book that will precede Loglan 1, a popular account of Loglan that everyone who runs can read. Check this one out with The Institute before you commence.
-
Translate the English portions of our teaching kit into (one of) the other language(s) you know, Spanish, say, or French. Eventually we’re going to need translators of our publications into other languages.
-
Prepare new input lists for our MacTeach programs, especially M1 and M2. You can build new lists of utterances for M1, extending the domain of the grammar it teaches, and you can prepare new word lists, for example, LW's and complexes, to be taught by M2. Check this one out with The Institute.
-
Tell us about off-beat, quirky places where you think we can run ads or announcements.
-
Be sure to save the STAT-files from your MacTeach disks. They’ll provide us with the data from which we can estimate the speed with which Loglan is learned. Keep diary records of all the other kinds of time you spend learning Loglan.
-
Form a study-group or teach a Loglan class at your college or university. The Institute will supply your group or class with all the learning materials it might need at the cheapest prices we can afford.
-
Tell us about any professional society, trade conventions, or special interest meetings you may be planning to attend at which you could set up a “Loglan table”. We will supply you with everything you’ll need.
-
Send us your old computers; we can use them in our workshops.
-
Tell us about any other ideas for helping The Institute that you’d like to see in this space.
